“You’re allowed to be both a masterpiece and a work in progress, simultaneously.”
That quote from Sophia Bush brought me so much peace when I saw it the other day. It says so much about this life, this journey for better health and fitness.
When we think about losing weight, or living a healthier lifestyle, our thoughts drift to how far we have to go.
But our friend Sophia Bush encourages us to embrace who we are, right now, in this moment.
No matter how flawed we are, or how many mistakes we’ve made, God looks at us as his masterpiece. Ephesians 2:10 says we are God’s handiwork. He loves us just the way we are.
We can choose to show our gratitude in how we treat our bodies: working out more and eating healthier. Yes, this can be a formula for weight loss, but it’s not just about a number on the scale. It’s about gratitude for the here and now, and for the future.
So today, take a deep breath, and allow yourself to feel the pride in making it to this very moment. Exhale, and feel the joy of the opportunity to be a little better to yourself each day.
